For my birthday our neighbour gave me a Kootai A560. For a couple of years I have gone to some model RC shows with him and under supervision I used his Xfly. Sorry I can't remember the model of it but its blue and yellow.
Now I have my own I thought to join this forum after a google search. Sorry if I ask any stupid questions going forward, I am very new to this. Looking forward to making new RC friends on here.

You have to be mad to take up this crazy hobby, and you have taken it up at a bad time, really, not only because of the time of year, but because of all the silly rules and reg's being forced onto us by government bodies - in the false name of safety, and from their knowledge base of zero on the subject!
If you look around the site, you will find one identified as "Introduce yourself". (self explanatory!). Don't give away any personal details such as your home address, phone number, etc.
Have a good look around at the varied threads, and you might find that some of the questions you haven't thought of yet - get answered!
There aren't very many of us in this group, but we are (sort of) worldwide, albeit mostly british. We used to have members from New Zealand and the U.S. but they dropped off a few years ago. Tony (Klippy) is in South Africa. A few of us are in the Cheshire and Wirral area (I'm in Warrington), and there are a couple of other northerners, one is up towards Geordieland, and another has recently moved to Wales.
There is also a private message option, should you wish to use it.
You can add photographs if you choose, but it's a bit clumsy until you get to know how it works. You'll find a guide to that on here, as well, if you hunt for it.
There are a very few rules - basically don't be rude, abusive, etc. We are NOT controlled by "big business" who dictate what can or can not be said, as are some other sites, where you are expected to buy and read their magazine to get the complete story about something. So if you think someone or something is a pile of tosh, on here you can say so!
Have fun!

I understand about putting personal details on sites. I used to be on Instagram and learnt the hard way when I got trolled on there. I use a dedicated email for things like this and I'm happy to be reached on it. I also have Teleguard Messenger (not telegram) which is also private so feel free to add me on there too. ID is in my profile.
I've already started to learn things by just going through forum posts. I'll do my best to contribute and not ask dumb questions.

- I'm supposed to be retired!
Swearing is also allowed if you can't find the right word.
I have missed having the fairer sex on here, it keeps the guys in line.
Do it now, you may never get another chance

I'll be able to fly it on some nearby waste ground & it seems that these gyos make it easier to avoid disasters.
On the language front an ex Newcastle player often comes in usefull - Paul Cannell!

Just bear in mind that smaller models are much more responsive to control inputs AND get very small very quickly!
Judging by the size of the included transmitter, it appears to be about 1 metre wingspan.
(and if it has lights, they are the wrong way around, left should be red, and right should be green!)

The gyro will make it much less susceptible to gusts and turbulence which is always a problem with small light planes. They react very quickly!
As Eric says small also means judging its orientation gets hard rather quickly!

I got up early to go flying with Arthur this morning. Same as last weekend the weather was far too windy. I kinda knew that would be the case.
Going to have to wait again. This must be such a frustrating hobby for you guys?

You just have to convince yourself the weather will get better soon but if the effect of global warming is anything to go by it may not be quite as good as it used to be!
