Depron Glider was created by Ex-Member
I thought i would have a bash at a glider today.
so at 10 am i fired up my brain and got building.
nearly finished.
i need to finish the fuselage, tailplane, rudder, fit the two servo's and then see if it flies.
62" span.

Looks nice but a bit brave with a tapered high aspect ratio wing and no ailerons. ;)

I can't really tell from the photo, but there doesn't seem to be much dihedral on the wing.
Sweep-back or dihedral would give it natural stability for a free-flighter or rudder elevator model, the lack of it AND no ailerons is an incipient spiral dive!
if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

For free flight it might be ok but as soon as you bring in elevator and rudder the chances of a wing drop and subsequent spiral gets rather high.
Now if it had dihedral outer sections like your winning glider it would at least respond promptly with roll to rudder inputs. ;)

I agree with all of that Q, but I asked the question because you implied that a hi-aspect ratio tapered wing would need ailerons, and I can't see the link??

I see. Most free flight contest model gliders are very high aspect ratio, and a lot have tapered wings. Neither are detrimental to lateral stability, although both may lead to wing drop. The latter can be negated with washout. Dihedral provides the lateral and therefore, spiral stability.
