Hello i have two fuselages to build and as i have put them off for long enough and while i am waiting parts to come for the mustang and mark "8". i thought i could use the free time and make a start.

where we are this morning on fuselage number 1.
hope fully have number 1 ready for covering before the weekend.
number 2 will be fitted in round other builds.

well i spose i best put today's work up on here then.
yeah sorry about the delay, just got bogged down in other stuff.( not that there has been much flying weather of late)

Got the u/c to sort.
the motor mount for electric
battery position.
servo tray and control rod run
nose
and then i can cover and start the next one.

I can tell you that building an old timer is harder work than building a scale warbird, just soo many little bits to cut and fit together. takes ages.
got to do it all again yet.:( :(

i have two to build, one ic, one electric.

struggling with the electric motor mount and battery position at the moment.
i might give up with this one for now and start the second fuselage, get back to it when my mind is clearer.

well i had a coffee and watched a film (scott of the antartic) and had a think.
this is what i came up with.

nothing is glued yet as i have to look at the u/c and try to sort out the bodged mess that it is.

looks lovely Tony, am sure I asked a question about whether you were going to put an engine in but dunno where its gone lol. What colour scheme you going for?

motor mount is glued in now.
top decking is rough shaped and looking at the nose next.

need to make the nose removable to enable access to the motor.
also need to sort the sides and battery access method.

daft question this I know, and you can delete after answer no worries, but what is the difference in the wood- that darker strip along the side? Is there a significance, ie to strengthen it?

the darker wood is beech for strength if you were using an ic in it, didn't need it in this one, but i had a brain fart and fitted it anyway. :P

Many of the 'old timers' put the engine bearers very wide, and about 3mm below the engine centreline, then you would use an aluminium or paxolin sheet, bolted to the bearers with a cut out for the engine. It made it very easy to change size of engines, side thrust, stuff like that. The extra strength won't go amiss with that leccy motor, it'll pass any vibrations down the fuselage where they'll dissipate.

front of the nose block fitted and shaped, can sheet the sides and bottom of the nose now. (well once the bathroom is finished.)
