one person's trash is ????? was created by old ugly
i thought i better show you this, i think here is as good a spot as any to post it.

i went to see an old muzzleloader shooting buddy this morning (i had lent him a ball mold).
i mentioned that i was building small balsa airplanes.
he flies rc but he does not put anything together. he tells me that a friend of his gave him a small box of balsa and said i could have it. sure why not!
we go to the garage and this is what he gave me.. not a very small box of balsa.
what the heck am i gonna do with all that?

Goodness...In the current market - someone could probably trade that for a small Scottish Island.

Your shooting buddy seemed to have the same ethic as me, regarding wood. If I want a few sheets, I'd buy maybe ten, to make the journey worthwhile - so I'd gradually build up a stock,
but of course, there was always a size or shape that I didn't have, so I'd get some of those next time I went.
But now that Steve Webbs, from Frodsham, has closed, I'm having to use my stock, and I seem to be out of moulded leading edge and triangular trailing edge stock, so may have to resort to laminating and sandpaper!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I'm a Black powder shooter myself, I've collected a few over the years, my favourite is my 50cal Hawken, the one I hate most is my Brown Bess Tower Musket.
Nice pile of wood by the way, plenty of building there.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

i am just about out of the BP game now. i have only two shooters left now, an english fowler 44'' barrel flint, and a 42'' barreled 40cal flint.(i built both) i haven't shot in a few year now. i will most likely gift them to my kids.
i did own a bess for a while, carrying a bag of.75 RB on a 28 target walk got tiring.

thanks

Although it wasn't of the same calibre (sorry!) I did a lot of .177 air rifle shooting a few years ago, but became tired of the long tedious drive to the range, just for maybe ten minutes on the 'step' (althogh it wasn't a step!).
There were two advantages - disregarding the lack of weight of the ammo, it was a lot quieter, and you didn't have to wait ten minutes for the cloud of smoke to disperse, so you could see if you'd hit the target!

BP shooting can be very satisfying, hard to get right but worth it when you do. I haven't shot BP in several years but giving them all away just isn't in my vocabulary. That and all the licensing procedures you have to go through these days. Our Government doesn't want us law abiding citizens to have any means of repelling a potentially lethal attack.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

our government is the same, self defense is against the law.
a jackknife in a pocket here can be considered a concealed weapon.

Eric.
that is an issue here as well. a 45 minute drive to an overcrowded range that is expensive to belong to.
i actually gave all my .177 's to my grand kids. (they are in north alberta outside of town where they can plink in their back yard).  i used to live where i could shoot my air rifle in my back yard, the kids and i had a great time plinking away at pop cans.  i look at what is out there for sale now and i see some pretty nice air guns.

The .2 PCP's are amazing and will reach out a surprisingly long way (100yds+)
We are allowed to use lethal force but it's just not worth it. All your firearms are taken into custody and by the time the Police get to the scene it's been modified to favour the criminal by his cronies so you have to spend time in the cells until the magistrate can hear the case! Out on the farm owning a JCB is a definite advantage.

OU, it's the same in the UK, there was a recent news report where a chap walking home from working on his allotment was arrested and charged for possession of a lethal weapon - - a form of weeding trowel called a Hori Hori knife.

Ridiculous, it's a police state gone mad. They're going after the law abiding citizens because they can't catch the non ones!

Two tier policing in England is shockingly bad now days a lady gets 30 months jail for posting a tweet about the boat illegals coming in, then a labour council member is on film saying and imitating cutting English throats is found not guilty in court, there is going to be civil war here before to long mark my words,

The UK is a tinder-box waiting for the spark.
There was a 'thing' going arond on Facebook that read - "We in the UK have free speech, and the police will arrest anyone who disagrees."

Social media is the worst thing for picking and choosing what constitutes and qualifies for free speech and what doesn't.  I got banned from Instagram for posting something political.  A lot of my friends are very left leaning and they seem to be the problem.  They seem entitled as if their opinion is more worthy than someone who disagrees and if they disagree they should be ridiculed and shut down.  The UK has gone mad.  I got to vote (for the first time) in the local elections.  I didn't vote Labour, I voted for the other popular party who took lots of seats.  Scared to say in case I get cancelled
