What can i put this nice new radio in!!

i have recently aquired this, new in box untouched and complete, wotcha recon i should do with it, polite responses pleeeeez!!











its all there all the bits charger + leads, servo mounting boxes and paired servo,s i believe the different colours of the lables dictates weather they rotate clockwise or anti, and there is two of each.

Wow wee, I remember this set well. Memories come flooding back. I do believe you are right about the different colours, they do indicate the direction the servo goes.
Thats a bit of a collectors item Chris, but was designed to be used, so the choice is yours

i remember it too, £275 interest free credit for Jim Davis Models, the set that got me seriously into the hobby, never, EVER got even a glitch with it, lovely bit of kit, and not a bell, or a whistle on it, the luxury was 2 lefts, and 2 rioghts in the servos, and THAT, was yer LOT,

I started seriously on the 4 channel version on 27Meg AM. It looked exactly the same except for the extra trim tab.
Yes, the servo colour denotes travel direction. ...... Are you sure this one is 35Meg?
I never had a glitch even with all the illegal CB radios that were flooding the market at the time.
I can't remember how much mine cost .... but I was 18 years old, self employed with my own car repair business & earning a fair living ..... I still had to get it on Hire Purchase!!!!!!
I'd previously been using some cheaper outfits & the thing that shocked me about the Futaba was the servo speed .... You can still use them on today's equipment & they'll give modern servo's a run for their money.

It will almost certainly work perfectly. The M series were pretty bullet proof electrically/mechanically.
Whether you dare use it on a plane will rather depend on how remote the site is and how far away you let it fly from you.
I have both a 2M and a 6M on 27mHz. My 6M is rather older - it has 5 wire servos!.

I risked it then and I am very tempted to risk it now!

i do actually have something to put it in if i dare, it came with a model and after finding the build instructions amongst some of the bits and bobs that came with it its a Ripmax Dazzler!!! the radio was bought for it by a chap in dorsets dad all new and was never finished, i understand his dad passed away before he could complete it, and it has sat in the loft ever since, he has given me all his dads old stuff on the proviso i will flnish and fly the plane at least once from my home club, Ashbourne, reason is that as a young airman his dad was a navigation instructor at what was then RAF Ashbourne, Now our site, i will do as he has asked (but with modern gear in the plane i have a spectrum 7 that i use for indoor and gliding that will do nicely) and i fear electric power, mainley due to the engine that came with it being about three times the size it needs, OS 60 Max, this is also new and unrun, so whats it good for?? (for a 63 inch trainer!!!!) and me not being a glow flyer anymore, it does come with glow support equipment though, a glow driver that fits a 12v battery, two gallons of 35 year old fuel!! and two spare plugs also from the 70,s and in the box when i collected it all he had left me a AM15 (siezed solid) and a Frog 2.49 which i will use in a recently aquired vintage plane for single channel/FF radio assist.(this is electric at the moment so you can guess where the leccy bits are going) so fun to be had methinks

Is there a plan with the Dazzler?

as i mentioned it will/is being finished to fly as the gent requested, will be powered by a Leccy motor eeeek!! and videos taken for the man, beyond that there is no plan other than it might get taken to a couple of retro events as and when i have the time, its currently on me bench here at work for lunchtime fiddlings as its covered in 30 yr old nylon/dope/paint /dust/spiders etc so is being sanded smooth and checked for dry joints in the 35 yr old glue, then a new coat of paint and some gear sometime later this summer.

Ahhhh!! i see i see, unfortunately there is no plan, with it sadly, it was apparently a very early ARTF and is veneered foam wings and pre cut panels, it does make a mention of some drgs to refer to to sand tailplane and fin and rudder etc to but i dont have that...sorry, as i refurb it i can try to draw around components if its a help, tailplane is easy it was designed to fix on with elastic bands fus shouldent cause to much of a problem and the wings are 63 inch span, i can measure the chord and i believe its a bog standard clark Y section, i will get some photo,s of it tommorrow and put em up in a thread just for anyone who,s curious/interested.
