Momentary lapse in judgement chaps. He's an awesome pilot and files that MB339 better than anyone else I know could. I don't think he'll be doing it again...because I do know that jet is his pride and joy and a lot of effort and money have gone into it.

Really good vid that. From the info and experience at Machrihanish in years past, at the speed of the model on this video the POLE is absolutely essential as the pilot would be taken/pulled off his feet without it.

Very true. They are much quicker at spooling up than when I got my first engine 4 years back. Other variable is where the throttle stick is, when you push it all the way up. From idle it does take what seems a long time but if you're at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle it's fairly quick.

The term "airship" probably best describes it. That is very low resistance to slow movement yet with substantial inertia. At slow speed there is little aerodynamic control. Get it wrong "low and slow" and coupled with a low thrust to inertia ratio means it takes time and distance to sort out.
