I'll bet all those landings were done by the lefthand seat! And now you know why all flying taxi drivers carry a spare pair of underpants in their bags. Interesting, it's not so much the crosswind that catches you it's the extreme turbulence. When I saw the lightning strike in the background I realised that it was a microburst. As the storm collapses it squeezes all the air out from underneath it, creating a very strong wind a few hundred feet thick. I'll bet all the passengers had white knuckles! Now I know why I don't like flying anymore.

There was a program on telly recently called "The Worlds Scariest landings" ... One of them was Concorde trying to land at Leeds.
Apparently Leeds only has one runway & most of the time it has bad cross winds.
This is a very short clip of Concorde aborting a landing because of the cross wind.
It did go around & land on the 2nd attempt but just look at the crabbing on this one. :woohoo:
It was the first Time Air France landed it at Leeds ........ AND THE LAST!

This is quite a good one ... I think the wing tip touches the ground.

Definitely a tip strike there. Sometimes it becomes a contest between the jockeys to see who's going to be the last to land before they close the runway!

Not pleasant that :woohoo: . Funny though that so many licenced full size pilots as well as model pilots will get hot under the collar if you suggest the use of rudder while landing. Did you notice the waggly bit going like a fish tail?

Nothing wrong with using rudder. Where it gets tricky on jets is one motor is in wind shadow, and that gives it's own problems, like losing thrust! And it's impossible to predict.
