While I'm at it - The Lanzo Bomber was created by Grumpy42
This is my second go to submit this post - I screwed up the first time but - I think - I managed to delete it this time. I picked the plan for this Old Timer model on eBay for the princely sum of 5 bucks - seems no one else was interested at the time.

Then I started to build it and maybe I found out why - the Lanzo Bomber is NOT an easy model to build - the main problem is the pylon that mounts the mainplane - it's a night mare to get right.

Anyway - I have a heap of photos of the build but I'll start off with the main steps I've completed - later I'll add some of the detail photos to confuse every one - including myself - (how DISD I do that????) Here are the first half dozen photos: -

That damn pylon

Starting on the fuselage -it's a square section turned on it's side so the fuselage is a diamond
shape!

Jigging up the fuselage to keep it all aligned is doubly important

Ah Stephen - damn it, you have to give the game away don't you?? How did you know I take all my engines to bed with me at night. Seriously the Enya is one motor I bought and never took out the box for more than 20 years - Now I have the perfect model to use it in - Vintage Model - Vintage Engine - Vintage Builder. The point is of course that those blokes from the darkside don't have that sort of tradition to fall back on. IC Engines Rule!!!

Ummm Tony - it's a "sort of" Lanzo Bomber I think - looks a bit smaller than 70" and is that an electric motor in the front?? Shame on you!!:P :P :P

As I said I have a heap more photos so I'll try to add them a few at a time in a fairly logical build order - (I don't always build in a logical order! :silly: ). I mentioned that the pylon mounting is one of the designs more challenging aspects and I wasn't happy with the way it was mounted on top of the fuselage and relied on a very difficult to build sheeted outer structure for strength - ( check out what I mean in the photo of the plan) - So I modified it by extending the centre down through the fuselage to give it more rigidity. that extension also provided a handy platform to mount the servos. The hardwood servo mounts also work to tie the whole damn thing together.

Now I have a sort of finished fuselage ( I borrowed the "sort of" off Tony) I supposed I need to give it some tail feathers before starting the assault on the wing. Here is the "sort of" progress: -

That looks nice.
I notice on the plan the whole tail section is removable, I presume for transport rather than a 'dethermalliser' facility!

Yes mate the whole tail section is shown as removable on the plan but I decided not to follow - I've kept the whole thing in one piece - as far as I could see the only function of the idea was transportation - there is no dethermaliser built into it. The tail has a 27" span and with the elevator is an 8 " cord. The fuselage section immediately in front of the tail feathers is a very small cross section and with that sort of leverage I didn't want to temp fate. There is also the question of detaching and reattaching the elevator and rudder controls all the time - I am not a big fan unless it's a larger model designed that way in the first place - that's why all my biplanes are at least 1/4 scale
