Okaydokey tail, wing and fin all covered with the tissue paper and pva glue mixed with water 1:1
Single layer bar the fin which is covered both sides and a .5cm excess on the wing tips as it joins the centre edge, which I assume is to strengthen it.

Now I tried my best getting the tissue wrinkle less but it was a tad finicky lol! Even contemplated ironing it under a tea towel before applying it, then thought maybe I was being too much of a perfectionist :woohoo:
Tips on how to get it wrinkle less much appreciated though :)

After gently sand papering the edges of all excess paper I cut a small 12mm piece from a 3mm sq strip of balsa. This was glued and pinned to the training edge of the tail. Forgot to mention most of this bar the boom and motor stick is constructed using 2mm strips of balsa :)

Plant mister bottle would be perfect! (Works on orchids, too!) :P You want to just dampen the tish, not soak it!

After cutting out a section of the motor stick, 1.5cm by .3 cm to accommodate the boom the pieces were glued and pinned making sure the boom didn't slope.

Also glued a strip of 2mm sq balsa to the left side of the pylon.

Now blowing on it to make it dry faster!!! :woohoo:

There was a thread on here somewhere about how to cover with tish - have a look in the how to threads!

In the dim and distant past, when I used tish, I used to damp it, then hang it over a chair to 'relax', because then it went limp, and all the creases fell out. - Put it on already damp, and pin the structure down - straight!!! - to dry.

As it is already on - when you damp it, it might go all saggy and baggy - DON'T panic, Mr Mainwaring, it will pull tight again as it dries.

Cheers chuck! Will look later when I get the lappy back :) so when you pin it on damp do you still apply the glue or will the paper dampness affect the glues stickiness? Will damp it after Harry Potter finishes :cheer:

let it all set before you spray it, a plant spray will generate a big volume of water, hence the fine perfume atomiser i suggested, be carefull you dont soak it, it does not need much, and just one side, the top,

i have 2 sides
no you dont,
yes i do,

As a novice this bit took a bit of head scratching :silly: as it wasn't entirely clear on the plans. The instructions say to place the motorway stick upright and to glue the tail to the boom whilst tilting it slightly to the right. What isn't clear is if that extra small 12mm block glued on to the tail previously should overhang the end of the boom or sit on top. After scrutinising the plans came to the conclusion it is the latter. Suppose someone used to building would know that lol. Anyway Glued, weighted slightly and pinned with the tilt whilst making sure the boom was square using a square rule then after measuring the gap as exactly .5cm I experimented with some odd bits to pack beneath the tail and boom. Fingers crossed now will stick
