Probably not really needed, when I worked on 92 Sqdn we had a Lightening land without its rudder and the pilot hadn't noticed, he was assured it was there when he took off !

Finally got some time to work on the Lightning.

lower sheeting done. next job is to cut out the edf tubes and fit the edfs, then join the two fuselage halves together.

Yes, Tony, or you will lose an awful lot of thrust on the turbulence from all those ribs.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

It has been suggested that i stagger the edf's, what do you people think.

it is a sticky one as i know very little about edf motors and their set up.

I'd use whatever config gives the easiest motor mounting solution Tony.

Tony
You could 'roll' two exhaust tubes in a suitable smooth faced material, with the recommended taper built in. Each could then be glue into one side of the fuselage. This would give you an opportunity to exactly line up the EDFs with their exhaust tube.
Of course adding the other half of the fuselage would require considerable trial & end error fitting to get all the formers to exactly match the exhaust tubes. It would also need on a long glue line! ;)

ducting done on one side.

i am half way through the other side now.
i need to solder the connectors on the edf's next so i can glue them in and be ready to fit the two fuselage halves together at a later point in time.

be wings soon.

working out the flying tail will be fun. :P

Lots of ribs on the leading and trailing edges but far fewer in the centre.
A little puzzled as to why given the centre portion of the wing will be doing most of the work.
