I just popped out to the cave and put a coat of white primer on the fuselage, still some spots that need attention next, i might give it 2 more then rub it down when hard taking as much off as i can but leaving a constant colour surface to put the finishing coats on as its going to be red, and red dont cover very well

Are you leaving the fin/rudder chopped off square, like that?
How did you manage to set fire to it - soldering on the clevises with a blowlamp?

I did not cover the engine bolts before i sprayed the paint on, so they were all gummed up with paint and the nuts would not go screw down, i tried to clean it off but that did not work sooo i thought ill soften the pain with a low flame on the blowlamp, and of cause being my clumsy self i caught the paint and it burst into flames, not to worry as its only a hack machine to try and fly C/Line again, its been about 60 years since i last did so it may only last one lap at the most, thats why there is no canopy on it saves £15

For those that don't know, those transmitters with switches all over, that play tunes, are REED system. As described, each switch applies a different tone to different reeds, which vibrate, and 'make' a connection in the model - thus moving a servo that was sprung to return to centre. Who remembers the 'Mighty Midget'? For fine control (no sliding trimmers!) the switches would be pulsed on/off by the fingers
The fun began when the engine was started - as the vibration of the engine could cause the reeds to chatter - and drive the servos!
Plus the receivers were pretty crude and not at all selective (pre-crystal control - note only one model operated at a time!) and if somene turned on a mains light switch, used a hair dryer, a vacuum, or a drill, the receiver would try to react to it!

It looks like the boat burial of a Bavarian Oompah Band member.
