It looks good to me Dean - don't be discouraged by the speed that Tony and company can build at, even an old fart like me - who has been building since about the time Adam was a boy, can't keep up with them. The next thing is to try building from a plan - start off with something simple and take your time. Avoid going for CNC cut components and cut everything out yourself - as Eric noted earlier if you bugger something up you can always alter it or make a new one.

Thanks,
The next thing I have to build is a Flair Puppeteer I also have a set of plans for a John Carpenter 80" Stuka, not sure whether to build something simpler from a plan before attempting the stuka.
All the talk of Lancasters on here has got me wanting to built a TN Lanc!!

Just reread your thread and see your fitting a proper engine well done Dean. When you quote the engine do you mean .65 being an OS 46 LA?

I wouldn't attempt the Stuka or a Lancaster as your first build from plans project Dean. My recommendation would be to try for one of the older "Classic" designs - something like my Powerhouse or perhaps a Senior Telemaster. they are basic designs - well proven and a good grounding in building techniques without getting to complicated. Warbirds are very attractive but they always seem to come up with some problems that require experience to solve. Note Tony's problem with the retracts and BB's problem with the EDFs

Hi Grumpy,
That is my thinking really, I keep looking at the Stuka plan thinking how the cluck to I get an aircraft out of that!!!!!!!!!!!
What about one of the Ben Buckle range? I quite like the plan for the 78" Elf biplane.

G'Day Dean,

I think you would be best to avoid looking for extra complication for your first "off the plan" build. The Elf is a biplane and that adds the extra complication of building the extra wing - and then getting all the angles of incidence and general rigging right. If I might make a suggestion go for something that is fairly big, simple and only has dihedral to incorporate - once again polyhedral and rigging a biplane adds complication - I'm not all that familiar with Ben Buckles plans but I had a look at the website and checked out a few plans - my suggestion? The Junior 60 - it is simple - has only one wing - with dihedral and the added advantage that at least one member on this forum has built one - local knowledge and plenty of help. That's my tuppence worth anyway.
Cheers
