Sticky feel was created by Klipkopwildlife
Here's the thing, I have a number of items that were supplied with a 'soft touch' covering, a magnifying glass for one and a GoPro camera for another. This is fine when the item is new but in our very hot climate the surface becomes sticky and readily picks up dirt, even to the extent of the stickiness coming off on your fingers.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to fix the problem? I don't want to throw away or replace the items, okay you can call me Scrooge if you want.

Keep them in the fridge! [badass]

Try dusting them with talc or french chalk! (not the lens!)

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Polyurethane spray.
Just make sure you mask the lens!

I had hoped to find something they could be wiped with to mop up the stickiness.

I suspect you will find that it is the plasticiser that is breaking down, and after a while the 'rubbery' surface will begin to break up.

A very common problem that sticky-ness. I have not found a decent cure yet.

Have a nice Day, unless I don't like you.
