i am learning as i go along, yes things are wrong at times, but each time i learn something new, the next one gets a bit better.
one day i will get enough experience to produce comp winning level machines.

i do not mind constructive criticism and i have many many times asked for the one line comments to be removed.
you just have to give me time to learn how to do things and not keep expecting perfection first time of trying.

I am not happy the way this thread is going !!!

All over a few rivets, come on gentlemen , this is an adult forum

Just remember that as admin, I see posts that have been edited by the poster the way they were originally .
There is an old saying thet "You can take a horse to water, but you cant make it drink" and I feel with what was said in live chat and also posted on this thread, that is what is happening, and I am sorry, but this isnt the way to teach anyone
There has been no "fawning" as has been suggested, only a little encouragement which never hurt anyone, and does help bruised pride

This is your thread Tony, but I will be removing some posts from it, as there has been too many fall outs on here in the past, and I did say a short time ago that there would be no more between members, and I meant it!!!

Its my job to keep harmony on here, and I will continue to do so !!!!

This post will be deleted when I feel that sufficient time has elapsed for all members to read it

Now come on, its only a hobby

Garry

i am my harshest critic and always will be.

i have always had to teach myself how to do things and have never had any encouragement from my family, in fact it was always the reverse.

money is also my problem, i cannot justify spending on rivet tapes or panel line tapes or rib tapes and will have to find cheaper alternative ways to do things.

yes i will mess up, yes things will go wrong, but give me time and i will get there. perfection takes years to learn and master and to be honest i do not think i will ever get there.
but i will keep trying.
yes i will sulk at times, it is in my nature to take things to heart and get upset, but i always come back for more.

so enough said.
the fuselage is done to the best of my current abilities, the wings will be done better.

right, now that the riveting conversation on rivets has finished :P i will post my next cheap scape build bit. :cheer:

the front of the canopy.
a new canopy would cost £20 and that is funds that will go along way towards the motor for this little girl, so i sat down and built my own.
a bit of 1.6mm square balsa and some plastic sheet from a mincemeat tart box, some glue, paint and filler later.
we have this.

not perfect i know, but it looks ok from 1 mile away. :P
needs a clean up and we can glue it on and blend the edges in with some filler.

You have an email Tony, My mate Dave is at the moment, putting thousands of rivets on a DC3 of 12 foot span, he has prepared for you a shot of the wing with stripes on, (these can be done with fine pen) detals of his rivets, note the ruler marks to line them up, and a sample of the tools he uses, Dave has found it better to use a bottle, and a fine needle to secrete the glue evenly, this is my last word on this, and seeing as Dave has gone to some trouble to do this for you, it would be crass not to pass it on, the reeves idea is quickest, and best, its basically a series of holes in masking tape, put the tape on, rub the glue in, and pull the tape off after 10 minutes, could anyone make this tape for you? final word the rest is up to you

how to do rivets by David Jones
Hi Al,
here are some pictures you can send on. The method is as follows;

Draw panel lines on with fine sharp pencil.
Apply panel line tape. (Fighteraces)
Spray over tape (set spray fan to about 1" wide) to give a good covering.
Lightly sand back to reveal black tape with very fine wet and dry paper, used wet, then remove tape to reveal panel line indentation.
Draw on new pencil lines for rivets.
Apply rivets using thick PVA glue through dispensing bottle/needle (as per photo). (Limey)
Job done!!

The rivets on the Dak are 1/4" apart.

Jonesey.

Thank you for this, i will digest and try to apply to the wing when i do it.
