Lets start this build off with a few thoughts.
i did fancy a 1/4 scale to go along with my 1/4 scale trent meteor, but storage and transporting will be the issue with a model that size.
so i settled for 1/5th scale, which will give me a wing span of 96", a bit easier to store and transport.
the wing will be split into three parts, two outer sections split from the u/c mounts and a fixed central section.
this will cut down on the wiring that will have to be connected every time you go flying.
well that is the theory anyway.
i plan to use some box aluminium for the wing joiners and to help support the wing in flight.
yes the model will be built mainly from Depron with support from ply, balsa and aluminium where needed.
the aim is to try and keep the weight under 7kg so i can fly her at my club field.
well i will update you more as i plod on with the designing stage.
there is no rush with this project as i need to finish the Lancaster and the trent meteor before i start cutting or building anything.
but i can do the plans, 3d print bits and collect the parts needed.
thanks for watching.

and as they are all a sliding fit within each other, you can do a tapered spar, like a leaf-spring, if you really want to!
if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

And for me too please. I know one way but would like to see your method. If I know my eldest is coming over I'll get him to see if he can bring me some CF offcuts from his work. Without getting into trouble with his boss .He works for Harrison's rods. He joined the firm when he left school when they were just a tackle shop. It would be a shame to lose his job now at 52. Anyway I'll ask him though he keeps saying he's coming and doesn't Doh! If he can bring some I can try my hand at CF tubes.Squirrelnet wrote: How to make glass fibre tubes... yes please
