Hi All,

Its a pleasure to join your forum, reading posts by experienced RC flyer's. First of all, I hope you are all safe and well. Hopefully I will continue to learn about the hobby. I joined the BMFA taken the tests to receive my CAA Flyer and Operator ID. Through the BMFA, a week ago I have joined a BMFA affliliated club. If I could please ask for some advise.. If I wanted to go and practice with my 800mm electric glider, do you have to wait for somebody to be at the club with you, or if the field is empty (i.e. during these times), am I allowed to go and have a fly around maintaining all safety rules? (I have had a walk with my family there and has been nobody on the field during the current time but is still accessible.

Hi Tom, a warm welcome from me, best check with your club, most clubs require you to have taken some form flying test whether that's the bmfa's A test ( which is really easy btw) or demonstrate to them you can fly safely..

Hi, Paul.
I presume that was aimed at Tom.
It's a common problem across all forums - people ask a question that two minutes of basic research would have given them, then clear off, never to be seen again, if the offered response is not what they wanted to see.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Aimed at all and sundry tbh Eric, really think this forum needs a kick up the a@#e, I log on at least 4 times a day ( I use my phone so I can do it anytime I've got a minute) and there's nothing and no one going on, your about the only one that bothers to post regularly ( thanks..I do read them all) I'm sure if the regulars made more effort then the lurkers may actually bother to post or come back.
I actually like the intimacy of this place but by god it's quiet...
rant over...time for a glass of grape based anaesthetic:)

Courtesy, one should reply to an answer to a question asked, but not all people look into forums daily.

I have been a forum member for quite a few years and I have never been a prolific poster. I accept it for what it is tho' and am delighted to see what others wish to share. I sometimes contribute to a post. I am also a member of BUSY aeromodeling Forums which I used to contribute to,, I have not done for quite some time tho', due to Flame posts from supposedly knowledgeable people who must never be contradicted.

I only normally log in at most once a day. Sometimes not.

I log in every day butas im not doing any modelling only remodelling, i dont have anything to report, my remodelling is on my sons garden front and back, its also something better to spen my money on

OK guys, Tom, I'd like to apologise to you for some of the rather insensitive responses which I have deleted, I have also deleted your response and propose we start again.
Just sticking to aeromodelling has never been what this site is all about. It's a quiet place where friends, old and new, can drop in, read, contribute or not and move on. There is even a long running thread about restoring an Austin A35.
I haven't been around much lately, I contracted Shingles in early April and while the rash and blisters only took 2 weeks to clear the Chicken Pox virus (virii?) are still nibbling away at my nerve connections, the continuous pain is quite indescribable. This means that I am unable to concentrate, or do anything, sitting or standing for more than about 5 to 10 minutes at a time before I have to go and lie down.
Cellular service is an issue for some of us, people just don't believe me when I tell I don't have Cel service, or even a land line. I would like to take this opportunity to ask members to be a little more tolerant about postings, for some of us it's just not possible.
Lets move on guys, I value all our members, new and old.
