1st time builder-Dumas kit 210 Ford Trimotor Need help with wire landing gear

I'm not an expert, but, I would tie with a Reef knot, double it = 12.5" and put the knot behind to peg dowel at the rear. Pull the nose block out until the rubber is straight. By the time you've put a few turns on the rubber shortens very quickly and pulls the nose block onto the plane.
Using rubber motors is very much a black art, Paul should be able to help. Use a bit of Press stick to hold the prop and nose block on, then do some test glides in long grass, it's easy to throw too hard! The glide should be controlled and not nose up or down. When it comes to putting power on, just try a few turns at a time. If you have no side thrust on the nose block, the plane should climb and turn left. The experts use nose block thrust and rudder to give a climb in one direction and glide in the other.
There are ways to get more rubber in, using a bobbin for example, but that's way above my pay grade.

But my KK models are the big r/c ones, not the little free-flight ones.
I did build their Luscombe Silvaire - but it flew like a housebrick! (Probably my fault, not the model's!)
