- I'm supposed to be retired!
Bude in Cornwall has miles of cliffs just asking to be sloped and one member of the family has a farm where I can fly.
Question, should I try and organise BMFA membership, I'm not a member of any club over here, or in the UK, or should I just trust to luck? Bearing in mind that 'Shit happens'
Do it now, you may never get another chance

Actually Klippy - "shit" is a constant - only the depth varies.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Eric wrote: The problem with BMFA insurance is they don't 'do' it monthly, you have to buy a years-worth. You might be better seeng if you can negociate a short-term coverage, just for whle you are here, with a local broker. You might get a better deal.
When did they stop doing that Eric? .... When I returned to the hobby Mike & I used to take out insurance with them on a monthly basis .... I believe it was £5.00 for 1 month.
We did this several times whenever we planned on a trip to the Orme. There was one occasion where Mike phoned them on my behalf & got me instant cover with his debit card.
Pol.
ps. .... Look forward to meeting you Klippy.
I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

I've just pulled this off their website ... this must have been what applied to anyone ... not just clubs.
Temporary BMFA Member
Clubs may offer temporary BMFA membership to visitors to your Club from within the UK, who are not BMFA members but have been invited to use your flying facilities on a temporary basis. A non-refundable fee of £5 is payable for a single period of 30 days. An application is processed in a similar manner to membership through an Affiliated Club, however, Club Secretaries are asked to advise BMFA HQ by letter or fax of the names of temporary members and the period of the temporary membership so that our records can be adjusted accordingly.
