A Warping Horizontal Stabiliser and other parts.

On my Radio Queen one side of the Horizontal stabiliser has a tendency to warp.When I first acquired it it was fine.Then I took off one day and it was very unstable and difficult to control.By shutting the throttle right down I managed to land it ok .On inspection the right HS was badly warped.By holing the offending stabiliser in the opposite direction,effectively twisting it and using a heat gun straightened it nicely.I took it out of its storage in an upstairs cupboard in my bedroom,it had warped again.Same procedure straightened it nicely and had 2 excellant flights yesterday.Just have to remember to keep an eye on it when taking it flying.

One of the disandvantages of a built up structure Stephen, the stresses in the wood can be permanent & it will always try to return to its chosen shape.
You could try warping it straight & trickling a few drops of thin cyano into small holes through the covering.
With any luck, the glue might soak into the wood and make it retain that position & shape.

I should make this clear .... don't puncture the covering on an "open" area .... I'm suggesting making a few holes where the covering is actually on balsa..... maybe even just cut & remove a 1mm wide strip of covering along the length of balsa.
If you put a hole into the other areas, it may become a massive rip!
At best, you'll leave a load of streaks of dried glue on the inside ... which may show through.

I have drizzled some cyano but to no effect .I will see how it holds up.It seems by re shrinking the covering its then held in place for a while.Ill just keep my eye on it
