Somebody called me 'pretentious' the other day.
I nearly choked on my latte.
Brushed motors and lipos was created by Dean M
I have a really old and battered multiplex twin jet that is fitted with two 400 brushed motors, could I use a lipo to power these?
It is only a thought at the moment not sure whether to just bin it, try a lipo on the current brushed motors or do a single or twin brushless conversion.

A battery is a battery! Just check you don't over-volt the brushed motors, because they won't last long.
If you change to brushless, you will need two speed controllers. Disconnect ONE of the red wires then plug both controllers into a Y lead, which plugs into the receiver.
Brushless motors are more efficient, and more powerful than brushed.

Thanks Eric, I am a complete electrical Biff, what would be the maximum current amps etc that brushed 400s could take or do you know where or how I could find out?

Without any further info on the motors, I'd say not much! Maybe ten amps and twelve volts?
It depends on whether the motors have externally mounted carbon-brushed connectors, or are just folded metal inside the can (and not replaceable). The external ones will have better cooling, and won't arc (spark) as much, and can carry more amps, but it depends n the motor windings as well.
A nicad/nimh gives 1.5 volts per cell, (approximately)so how many cells were in the original battery pack? And what size were the cells - AA C D etc.
