This aircraft used to belong to Garry Pollard, RIP. I want to fly her with my new Horus x12s TX. As discussed on another thread (Maidens) the fact that I'd had to put 2 4,000mAh 3s batteries in to balance her was called into question. This photo shows her balancing at 80mm the the batteries in. 80mm with a chord of 270mm = 29.6%. I like to maiden with the CoG on 28 to 30% and start playing later. For their Blizzard, Multiplex say 50%, just try it first time out and see how far you get!
I then did a test with these batteries and got 312watts, for a 2.4Kg model it's a bit marginal. Then I removed the batteries and weighed them, 512gm, very close to the weight of the 5,000mAh 4s that Garry used to use.

I've yet to weigh it Phil, I got that weight off the net. This is my setup, as you can see I had to leave the battery hatch off to squeeze them in. This is the damage I'm talking about. Not Garry's style at all, unless he got a bit uncaring once his illness was diagnosed and he knew how little time he had left. He certainly didn't let on to me how little time he had left and we 'spoke' pretty much every day.

Tony just said it all! If Garry had any faults it was that he wouldn't suffer fools and could be very acerbic at times. When he left us he went very suddenly and none of us had the chance to say farewell!

With my new 4,000mAh 4s pack she weighs in at 2.405Kg, and I'm getting 800watts at full throttle! Now to recheck the CoG.

I'm an engine man myself OF and I did think about it.
With my batteries which are 100gm lighter the CoG has moved back from 29.6% to 32.2%. I'm very tempted to reduce the elevator throw and maiden her at the new CoG, any comments please?

If your balance-point is close to or on the thickest part of the section (usually the spar or wing joiner, as well) that's about right - - - usually!
