Precedent T180 was created by The Beard
I purchased one of these on E Bay,never flown and very well constructed.Its fitted with a Laser 90 which I couldnt resist buying seperately but still in the model.I heard from Steve Webb Models that they have a glow start extension which I need to fit before I can start the engine.If it arrives in the post tomorrow I hope to have it ready to fly on Sunday.Ive just discovered its Warbirds this Sunday and Ive still not readied Tonys Hurricane number 3

Im hoping the start glow kit from Steve Webbs arrives Monday so I can get the T180 prepped for flying doesnt need mu8ch.A battery,Rx should see it ready.

I chased the postman round the block and managed to rugby tackle him and get my Steve Webb package from him.So Ive soldered the glow connection adaptor to get the lazer started.I connected up and found the throttle seized.WD 40 was aloud to soak in and whilst putting a heat gun on the seized area and working the servo it quickly was working.Had to remove the cowl but that was neat and straight forward.So the cowl was soon refitted and the on board battery which is buried somewhere is on charge and will need checking before a flight is attempted

I was in a car Grumps,and he was on foot.Ive had the Lazer engine running but need help.The needle valve isnt held by a clip like usual and there is an adjuster screw the other end.But to get the engine running,i blew down the fuel nipple until I could hear it hissing.It started and by unscrewing the needle valve I got it revving,Cant get it to tickover.Its been standing for years so tomorrow Ill run fuel through it and keep it going for a tank full see if it clears it out.

With Lazers, I think you will find the needle is the main jet, and the screwdriver one is the idle mix. You will find it very tricky getting it somewhere near right, but once sorted, it should never need tweaking again.
Get it running reasonably rich at half throttle, then ease the idle screw in a FRACTION, then carefully close the throttle, listening to the engine. If it hunts it is probably too rich, and if it fades, it is too lean. (but it might also be WAY too rich!)
There was a guy fiddling with one at Halton, on Sunday. It took him all day to get it something like right.

Is it a super tiger, or an irvine carb? if its an ST, and its the early wire needle, then there is a clamp nut that keeps it from turning, if this is not nipped up, then the needle will rotate at revs

Yes, Beard, the needle controls the full-speed mix, and the screwdriver one the idle mix. So you set the needle as normal. BUT each time you adjust the idle jet, you need to reset the main needle, too, that's why it is so fiddly.

The Laser 50 was made between 1988 and 1990.I think its over propped with a 14 x 5 and believe an 11x6 might be better suggestions gratefully received .I think the main needle valve is lock nutted so that would make sense

I fitted a 12x6 and opened the bottom adjuster 2 clicks.I started the engine,it runs perfectly tickover is very low and revs to peak perfectly,very pleased.
