Bucker Jungmeister

Can anyone who has been involved in modelling since the 80s tell me if C A P kits ever did the Bucker please.
I was given this model many moons ago to refurb, and it has languished in the loft since then. With the demise of my DL I thought I would get the fuz down and do that, that is almost done now just need to put rx ,s/w and battery in. This model has an aluminium cowl. Cannot tell you the wingspan as they are still in the loft, the reason I am thinking of C A P is it has the same top wing retention method that the C A P Gladiator has.

Complete a pac certainly did the meinster, it was i think, 60inch span, and was true old school building, Traplet bought the rights to publish the plans, but Anglia model centre own the kitting rights, sadly, they only do 3 models now, and traplet dont list the bucker, more aerobatic than a pitts, at half the speed, i have 2, a svenson one, 1/4scale, at 65inch, and a John Greenfield version, at 1/3rd scale i had a pica one, 60inch, desigbed by Dave Pratt, it flew well, and heres a story,
I was flying mine in a scale event, it was always skittish, bouncing in and out of aerobatic moves with no great accuracy, it was like flying a floaty ball, this day, one guy was flying a 1/3rd scale, it looked so solid, it grooved round the manouveres, we got talking, and he mentioned his was the same, so, he built a weight box, on the CG, and kept adding ballsat until it flew the way it did, i did the same with mine, and it became a joy to fly, I sold mine when i got the 65inch one, that was 15 years ago, and i still have not flown the bloomin thing!!

I have a Jungmeister built from the Stothers 49" plan for a 60 engine, and I always found that one had too high a wing loading with a tendency to flick out too easily. Maybe one day I'll strip off the Glosstex and put it on a diet, see if I can get it to fly as Alan describes a Jungie should.
I've also got a 60" Pica kit in the stockpile. Yes, I do have a soft spot for the design.

Got wings from loft to start em, measured them came out at 58". After a bit of searching I found a blog on RC Groups of a guy who built a 58" one, turns out it is a "Model World Plans" Meister, the plan in his blog even shows the same registration as is on my wings so looks like I'm in the ball park. He got them from Traplet but I couldn't see any for that size after a quick search.
Wings have aged darker yellow than fuzz so will repaint them.

Must say free hand line painting and lettering is a bugger with hands mangled with arthritis, tis ok from a distance though.

Assembled wings on model today to measure for struts, you would not believe how the top wing lay to the bottom wing. took a measurement from bottom wing TE at aileron cutout to rear fuse centre and wing lined up lovely, within 3mm. if you looked plan view the top wing was about 15 deg out of sync with lower. Took the wing off and checked the soldered guides on cabane struts and both hole on the port side were out to their opposite by just under an 1" , "Kin hell" could be why he didn't like flying it.
Re-jigged it and marked new positions and put new captive nuts in, re-fitted wing and leading edge is within couple mill to lower wing for full width, that'll do me.
Needed to measure for interplane struts to be made, my inside calipers wouldn't open wide enough, don't like flexing a tape measure then remembered my mate Mr Redshaw's tip, Used two coffee stirrers and a couple of small clamps to get exact gap at each position, all four struts were within 1/8" of 10.5", well said I that's as near as i want
cut some brass bushes to go into all the fixings and that's me for the day. Nigel at Flightline Graphics has got back to me saying he can do masks no prob when I need em, will have to wait a couple of weeks but I can hopefully get the flight testing out the way, two nice 15 x 8 props arrived this morning also

Slightly Off topic, but sort of relevant. This was a Bucker Jungmann taxiing out at Valencia airport amongst the big stuff, a few years ago.
