Red Zephyr, Radio Queen, & other Models.

Last year a club member pleaded with me to build a Red Zephyr,so I thoughtfully let him.It flew fine a couple of times.It is fittwed with s new Saito 40.It then started pulling right and didnt want to turn left.It was assumed this was down to a long snake pushrod that was flexing due to lack of support.I retrieved it from its corner this afternoon.It has a very long fuselage.To fit a good thickness push fod of piano wire would mean joining any I have but due to its length it may also flex but not as badly.I came up with the solution but a hiccup occurred during thinking time.I went on E bay and bought a Radio Queen,ready to fly-wohoo-£100,and Gary its electric,Its fitted with an SC52 4 stroke you start with an electric start.Anyway I digress.Ive fitted a small but adeqoute servo just infront of the tail end on a thick balsa plate already in the fuselage to support the snake.It works brilliantly.Ive left the originsl servo at present so as not to disturb the C of G.I have removed the snake and that probably weihs the same or more than the servo Ive fitted.

I went down the M3 and M25 this morning and picked up the Radio Queen.Its been built very well is in excellant condition and Im very pleased.After GP Practise,I fitted a Receiver and got the Sc52 running nicely.Had to do a bit of tuning and adjusting but its ready for tomorrow.I also ran the Flair Cub and Red Zephyr and there all in the car charged up and ready for the morning

It only had one flight and was banned for being to noisey,you cant fit a bigger prop,going electric

The Red Zephyr with its rudder conversion is a joy to look at and fly.The Radio Queen has been playing up.The Pull Pull on the rudder kept coming loose,so much in flight yesterday that it spun down with not sufficient rudder to get it out.I had throttled right back because the throttle had become less and less responsive,and on the final turn it just didnt recover.It landed in v er dense undergrowth and was unharmed.Whe3n I readjusted at home it kept loosening up.The servo is mounted at the back and a cover exposes it.The servo mount had come off.I epoxied it back into position and its now really excellant with no slack

In uinlement weather conditiuons the Red Zephyr came 2nd in the vintage.It was easily the easiest to fly in the wind and rain beaten by a Junior 60 diesel with no throttle considered more difficult to fly
