Flying Aces (Keil Kraft) Elf

I decided to commence repairs on this one, so I can fly it at Old Warden in two weeks.



There was not much undamaged tissue left after I'd cut away the broken stuff. Serves me right for not using a blast tube...a fully would contest motor takes no prisoners when it decided to blow. The wife was holding the other end of the model at the time...it's probably best I don't print what she said!





Derek Knight of KP Aero had the excellent idea of using one of his adjustable nose plugs on his model, so I'm modifying mine accordingly. I had a number of issues with the operation of the model (such as a non-stable nose block and difficulty of setting down- and side-thrust), all of which will be solved by the replacement nose plug.

Hi Andy Re the Chippy I might have to do that I think Re the dts One was pop OFF t/p the other drag chute. We saw them work by the actions of the models through the bins, but the thermals were just too strong. I think it was the heat off the road outside at Woodvale. Scorching day at the annual gala.

I've had a bitza day today doing bits of this and bits of that!

The new nose block and plug is now in place together with some local reinforcing. The fuselage is ready for re- covering.



The nose plug is moulded with two pieces of plastic with eccentric shafts that are adjustable using the supplied spanners. Twisting the two together or separately allows up to about 10 degrees of side- and/or down- thrust to be set on the prop shaft.

This one is now ready to test, which will probably be at Old Warden in 10 days time...

The fuselage has been covered with Esaki tissue using tissue paste as an adhesive :

I like the simplicity of your FF models, reminds me of my school boy days watching the fliers on Beverley racecourse.
