VMC 150% KK Hawker Fury for Rubber FF was created by Ex-Member
Started another new one yesterday, a 25.5" span rubber powered Hawker Fury. I was going to build a small one, but then decided to go bigger....and when I saw the kit for sale, it was too good to miss. VMC laser cutting is normally good and the balsa selection excellent.
So, here's the kit:
And here's how far I got last night. I'm using jigging blocks twice the size of the fuselage longerons so that I can build one side over the other using the same jig. The ruler is used to ensure the jigging blocks are in line.

Construction continues with the first fuselage side and the upper wing:
followed by the lower wing and second fuselage side over the first:
Spars added to the upper wings and the tailplane has been laid down (I've made provision for separate elevators for trimming);
and I've cut some wood to allow a built-up rather than solid fin in an attempt to save weight behind the C of G:

They've removed it from the site, John, as the parts don't fit too well. Apparently, it was put up in error when I ordered mine, but they honoured the order anyway.
VMC are working on all their inherited kits to bring them up to their high standard.
If you're desperate for one, download the Veron plan from Outerzone and multiply it, and the print wood, by a factor of 1.5

Having built a number of the Veron Truflite kits and having all of them in my stash I can honestly say that the plans and parts weren't that accurate in the first place 
I think that the worst problem I found was on the plan of the Harvard, the tailplane of which is very asymmetrical... Phil Smith probably had one too many at lunch when he drew that one.

Construction progresses whenever I have a few minutes to spare, here's a few shots taken over the last few days:
Tailplane off the board:
and shaped. I've since removed and replaced the part that's dried skew-whiff:
The wings are also off the board:
The fuselage sides have been sanded, matched and joined:
...and formers and wing locating tubes added:
I've also completed the fin/rudder, but failed to take a photo. I'll rectify that next time.

I've been adding stick and gussets to various items today. The current status is:
I've made a classic error on the tailplane and assumed that the elevators were of the simple type. The full size has a rather large balance horn, so I'll need to add some wood to the tailplane to allow the correct shape to be formed.

Yep, I'll eat humble pie on that one Chris.
It's a photo thing Q, the picture was taken on an iPhone under electric light.

Aaaah! That explains it .Thanks. I'm in no real rush so I'll wait for it to come out again . I really prefer the Gladiator as a bipe subject .... A sort of nearly but not quite plane I feel. Hard to explain what I mean really but built 4 at 1/72 scale Airfix of course. One in silver the others in different camo patterns. I must get round to a flyer one day ![[badass]](/media/kunena/emoticons/bad_boys_20.gif "[badass]")
