I have an original FROG Tutor kit, it's quite ancient, the wood is suitable for furniture construction but the design appears to be a decent free flight model (might benefit from a dreaded r/c rudder 'wiggler' just to confine it to my local paddock) although the construction is a bit 'heavy'.

I suspect that I found the kit at the late Arthur Gorrie's hobby shop at Woolongabba in Brisbane during my military service in the early 80's.When Arthur was ageing I offered to help clean up the shop with first dibs at any interesting stuff that I discovered at his asking price. Managed to score a lot of ancient Aeromodeller plans and magazines from the '50's plus some NIB Elfin diesel engines. Arthur devoted a lot of his profits to helping wayward youths (long before it became 'fashionable') and the Qld. Govt. thought enough of Arthur to name a prison after him.infrastructurepipeline.org/project/arthu...correctional-centre/

Every FROG kit that I built as a kid actually flew, maybe not well but I got my money's worth out of them.;

My flying mate back in the 50s built a twice size Frog Diana - 72" span and a tad on the hefty size. Towing it was hard work! He retired it but hung onto it. In late '56 or early '57, on leave from the RAF I cadged it off him, sawed 6" off each wingtip, sawed off the nose with its two ton of lead, created a Bowden style knock-off engine mount, fitted my ED Hunter, and to most folks surprise it flew - and flew pretty well (this was F/F of course - back then as far as I was concerned Radio was the province of the Goon Show and Hancock's Half Hour). For the life of me I can't remember what happened to it - I may even have returned it (sans ED) to its builder
