Chobham common

Took another trip over there today and discovered the place I used to fly 20/25 years ago! hadn't changed much ( I think!).
It's one of the earliest sites that that has been used for model flying in the UK, brought back some really good memorys of chasing models .
It's still used for flying so I shall be going back...
There's a great video on you tube of some guys flying J60's there free flight a while back.

Brings back memories - searching for one of mine about 40 years ago (I found it) I found the skeleton of a rubber model that must have been lost years earlier. Everything, with the exception of the noseblock and a couple of inches of the freewheeling prop nearest the hub, had totally rotted away but had left a sort of, I suppose one might almost call it 'fossilised' trace in the grass. Even the prop shaft was just a brown rusty stain - the rubber motor looked like a snake!

Lovely story Mike! I lost model's there twice, one I got back a month later ( always used to put my details on them) it landed in a lady's garden completely unharmed a couple of miles away.
The other I never found despite seeing it come down ( d/t failed), that was a bloody shame as it was the model's first flight and had a brand new paw .8 up front.

Oh and I've just remembered, I once found a mills. 75 attached to engine bearers over there, no sign of the rest of the model! I always wondered what had happened.

I never flew at Chobham but know that sinking feeling as a plane goes o.o.s.
