Using your Horus X12S

Referring back to post #17 where I couldn't get the Horus to calibrate the SxR receivers. Oh joy of joys! I downloaded the latest firmware for the Horus, it's 1.6.4, still Beta and I wouldn't normally advocate using a Beta fly a plane but in my case, if anything went wrong there's no way anything could get in the way, except a tree or the ground!
You can now use your Horus to set up and calibrate the S6R and S8R receivers! It takes about 60 seconds to upload the current settings from the RXs (twice as long as in OpenTx) but at least it now works. I'm still a bit miffed that a manufacturer with now 10% of the market should ship something that doesn't work but at least they're getting there. I was questioning my own ability for a while!

STOP PRESS. I think I mentioned upgrading my Horus to the Beta firmware, well I did and there's a new wrinkle!
In the old firmware there was a function called 'Trim grab' the way it worked was this, while maidening a model you could set the model straight and level using the sticks, then flip a switch to grab the trim settings. Very useful since you're not trying to fly the plane and push/pull trim levers at the same time. You then let the sticks go and voila, the needed amount of trim was applied to each stick direction. This function has been superseded by a function called Centre trim, which does just that! So you've got the model trimmed nicely, you select Centre trim and bingo all your trims go to centre! Sorry FrSky that's about as useful as a chocolate shovel in a boiler room!

Silly question - if you are holding BOTH sticks off-centre, to fly straight, how do you press the trim-grab button?
I presume you can re-grab again, without losing the last settings!

Actually the Horus doesn't have any buttons that control anything in flight, however there is a momentary long lever switch that's just above the throttle lever. Your point is well taken, however since we no longer have the function the switch remains unused.
