Upgrading using the FrSky STK USB adapter

Almost all of FrSky's components have Firmware that is upgradeable, and while most people won't ever feel the need, some of us 'Gadgeteers' like to know that we're running the latest Firmware. This is where the STK unit comes in, there are a few things you'll need before you start.
The first thing is to download some computer software from the FrSky web site.
The first is the Zip file called CP210x_VCP_Windows, and the second is frsky_update_sport_rev14, right click on each one and extract all the files. The third is obviously the new Firmware you need for your RX or whatever.
I keep a directory permanently called 'Upgrade RXs', next run the App called CP210xVCPInstaller_x64, or x86 if you're running a 32bit computer. This prepares your USB ports to receive the STK unit. You can check if you've been successful by going to Control panel, View Devices and Printers. When you plug in the STK an 'Unknown device' should appear. Leave the STK plugged in, you should have a red and green led. Plug your cable without your RX into output 2, the slider switch should be down as we view the STK in the Upgrade position.

Do not plug your device in yet! Now you're going to run frsky_update_sport_rev14 And you'll get File not available, click on File and find the file you need, A number of files are available, LBT means Listen before talk and is mandatory for EU countries, I used the FCC (US) version, 16 channel. Click on the file you want and you get get Now you can plug in your device, the red and green telltales will flash and the strip percentage will start to move. 3 or 4 minutes later the strip will be entirely blue and you can unplug your device, job done!
