Ripmax P-51 Mustang maiden fri...flight...

Evening all..... this Mustang has been sat in the shed since winter so I thought I ought put it together. I have the Ripmax BF109e & Ripmax Spitfire, both great models, so I figured this P51 would be the same. It went together much better than the Spitfire and like the BF109e has quite a few new features to the buid that the Spitfire misses. I think the build of the more recent P51 & BF109e are far superior to the Spitfire. Also I think the battery hatch is better solved in the P51 & 109... seems like better wood to me as well. Also the Spitfire covering was pretty woeful whereas the P51 & 109 covering is much improved. There are other aspects but they escape me right now.
Anyway, I thought with it's hugely thick wing section this P51 would be a dolly..... hmph... not so. I ran out of trim in the end on elevator so will have to alter pushrod lengths. Also, I reduced the epr on the aileron so much I was having to use a lot of rudder to steer.. Still... a bit of a boring vid but she came down in one piece...

I guess I ought to get another film of the Spitfire now she's back together....

Mr. Beard... me too. ...... Having adjusted the lengths of the pushrods... (I think I must've omitted centring the servos before attatching the pushrods and flying... )... the 'plane is indeed the dolly I thought she was going to be. Unlike my other 1940's warbirds which have bags of minus exponential on the controls to achieve a smooth scale like flight, this one has had to be reduced substantially to get any manoeverability at all. Looks really nice in the sky, doesn't have the same turn of speed as either my other 2 Ripmax models of the same series. Of the 3... Me 109e, Spitfire & Mustang, the Spitfire is undoubtedly the best flying model of the 3. No longer available as a Ripmax product but I'm pretty darned sure that the Hobby King 1234mm Spitfire which comes with retracts is, apart from the re modelled wing ( to accommodate the retracts & wing mounted servos to drive ailerons instead if single servo driving both aireron), the 'New' style battery hatch ( more of a match now with the Ripmax 109 & P 51 battery hatch ), and remodelled, better shaped cowl. I've examined it in minute detail from the photos, even the covering camo is identical in its pattern.... some ones going to tell me this has all been noted....months ago.... I know... catching up here....
