Hi all
I have just come into the possession of one of the above 1/4 scale gliders, built by a club mate some years ago, and now sadly no longer with us, as said he built it some years ago and it has not seen air for some time, i am going to refurb and fly it from the slopes he flew it from, the mermaid area above Leek, what i need is a new canopy the one on it is so brittle and yellow, that even just opening the long closed canopy catches and twisting it slightly :banghead: caused it to crack and fall apart, so the question is can i get one anywhere, i know the plans are still available so does anyone supply a canopy,
i will assemble it, actually them, as i went to look at one glider and came back with three :'' also a Pic 20 / 21 i,m not entirely sure which, at 1/4, scale and a small unidentified one that no one wanted and was in danger of being binned, so i will endeavor to get some photo.s and post em here for help with ID of the small one and general interest in the others if indeed there is any.
cheers and merry christmas
chris

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Thanks for that link Alan, I didn't know of them. I've got one of Cliff's plans in the drawer, and his book on how to build and fly them.

no not he, Brian was a very very accomplished modeler and retired engineer, i first met him some 20+ years ago when i only flew gliders off slopes, and "met" him again when i joined ashbourne, he was claimed by the evil that is big C after only a very short time,

Models seem to outlast their builders so often ,but what an excellent legacy to leave..One of our club members enjoys seeing other members fly the models he helped his father build when he was a lad.

They certainly do, i fly, now and again, and enlarged Kwik Fli, built by my mentor to model flying when i was 19, i am 59 now, beat that!!! mind you, he didnt leave it to me, i sought it out, and paid a premium for it, but the guy who i bought it off was a good mate if his, and he cannot, and never will be, a good model flyer, so, its safe with me, ( i hope)
