Pulled this from the past to tell a similar (model based) story.
A year or two ago, I had an Align 500 that I used for learning before risking one of the Raptor sisters!
I pulled a huge loop and came out way too low. By the time I had realised the problem, it was too late.
The heli thudded into the ground at high speed, shuddered with a sort of dull thud and........
Flew on.
I was absolutely amazed

- flew it gently away from me for a few seconds before slowly turning back towards the patch to bring it home.
As it flew slowly past me, I realised my problems had only just begun (breaks into that old Carpenters song!!)
The model was minus its undercarriage

Everything else was totally normal - just no landing tackle

Well, the upshot was I managed to land it, cut the motor and keep it upright as the head-speed decayed.
It finally toppled when the blades were slow enough to be undamaged.
Of course, no-one was at the field to see this.

I walked off in the direction of the thud and found the skids sticking out of the field.
One new frame bottom later & it was airborne again.
I gather the poor pilot in this clip didn't survive - amazing that anyone did!!
