Nice job on those ribs too Dean - they look to be neatly and accurately done. Good job - keep going and remember - IC engines for ever!!!!!!! :evil:

Oh and just ignore those #$%^&* electric infidels - they have no class. :P :evil:

We electric wallas might not have much class Grumps, but one thing we do have is flying areas, unfortunatly the I/C brigade, seem to be losing sites hand over fist in the UK. A sad state of affairs when just one complaint can close down a long established club.

Not much to report on this due to needing some leading and trailing edge strips and I am skint until pay day next week :( wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for spending money on bloody cars :angry: Paying for my crashed one to be recovered and tyres and brake pads on the other car :(
I have now glued all the ribs down and used some sheet to make a main spar web. That is all!

Dean - not sure what you mean by a main spar web?? Are you refering to shear webbing, centre section sheeting or a dihedral brace? If you mean a dihedral brace it should be made from ply - NOT balsa!

Didn't word that to well did I :silly: , It is the shear web between all the ribs.
Talking of dihedral braces do I use birch ply? not lite ply?

Lite ply is not that strong, I would use a thin Scandinavian ply.

And not the cheap three ply from the diy store! That stuff has a crumbly thick core, often with bits butt-jointed together, and a thin veneer of something with the grain at 90'. Proper ply has all the veneers the same thickness, and you want at least a five layer ply.

picked some wood up yesterday so done a little bit more, trailing edge fitted need to make some LE as there is no stock part I can buy. also picked up some decent ply for the dihedral braces ( there is three to make)
There is two ribs still to fit to the inboard edge these are easier to fit after the dihedral braces are fitted and wings joined apparently.
