Cut out the major parts, using the proven method of measuring with a micrometer, marking with chalk and cutting with an axe.







Have extended the carbon spar, as I have managed to break wings before, where the carbon ends. Agreed the fact that I had 5 servos, a 2200mAh battery and undercarriage, and a big motor, on a depron model may have had something to do with it.






It is basically a profile model with a box fuselage. Something to take up time when I don't want to start a bigger project, but the weather is too wet to fly.

The rest of the parts will just be cut to fit as I go.

I just came to update the slow progress, and noticed the last post was that above

The fuselage side panels and the ply doublers.





The sides are made of two layers of 6mm depron, held bent while gluing, so the shape doesn't have to be bent in when joining.






The two ply doublers are joined by the firewall, undercarriage floor, and a former that will take the load from the undercarriage, and support the battery tray.

The fid part of the tailplane is stiffened by two strips of carbon fibre.

The elevators will be cut and only held together by the carbon torque tube, just left it in one piece while gluing the carbon in.

All the control surfaces are hinged on the top edge. Carbon stiffeners are added in the leading edges of the ailerons and rudder. The leading edge is cut at 45deg, so the carbon has to be inset to fit within the profile of the 45deg cut. To get a straight line on the edge cuts, I piled up steel rules as a guide.

Just put the major things loosely together, and the good news is that the battery will be over the CoG, which is what I had hoped for.

Only major construction now is the rear deck, and then the canopy and front deck which will be removable for access. (although the wings will be bolt on, I hate having to remove wings to change batteries).
