KAMCO KADET

As i have got a plan for the Kamco Kadet now i thought i might make a semi start between lancaster bits.

been perusing the plan and build pdf and have sorted out how its done (i think)
will be cutting the first parts of the fuselage soon.
1/16th sides with 3/16th doubler's. (1.5mm and 4.5mm) back as far as F3,4. then 1/16th sides back to the tail with 1/4 square stringers. (should be 3/16th, but i have 1/4 in stock)

be some pictures later if i actually get anything cut today.

1.5mm fuselage fronts cut.


4.5mm doublers done.


6mm ply F1, 3mm F2 and F4, 1mm ply F3.

Side two placed on to check alinement.


Need to make the battery tray and u/c supports next, then i can join the 2 sides together and work on the rear of the fuselage.

need some 1mm ply for the rear doubler first though.

just a little bit more done.
it will almost fit in the Lancaster bomb bay.

its an easy build to be honest.

That was Tony Ells' original idea back in the 70's, a simple build for an ideal first model.
Think it worked

definitely worked.

looking at the design i dont need the 1mm tail doubler as i will be gluing my tail on.
so i can crack on with the fuselage today and maybe start the wings or tail.

i will still cut a template for the 1mm rear doubler though.

Tail end joined together and all the rear formers fitted.
bottom sheeting on and fuel tank supports in ( though mine will have a plate fitted to the top to take a battery)



top sheeting and front window fitted.


will be starting the tail feathers next i think. (need to do some more to the Lanc first)

Started the horizontal stab.

Rich is trying to resurrect a business here, & I for one would love to see it grow. ... I'm sorry to be a bastard in a serious thread .... but this one calls for some straight language, before he makes a pigs ear of it & loses shit loads of money ... let's play "Dragons Den" & see if this business is viable.
Please don't take offense to this Rich, .... let's put this to a business viability study ..... It's no good having a load of people saying " what great models" .... if nobody parts with the bloody cash because they've spent it on ARTF's.
Or because they're too bloody lazy to build a model for themselves.

If this post disheartened you ... then forget it! .... you'll get a damn site worse on your journey.
The only thing we can offer here is friendship & support ... we can throw in a bit of criticism & tell you honestly what modellers want.
I'll build one of your models & rag its arse off all around the Nat's ... I'll even have "Kamco" plastered in vinyl all over our tent & the model wings.......

It is an easy model to build, just needs bringing up to date with measurements.
an electric conversion will be good as well.

depends on if it will be sold as a kit with pre cut parts or artf style.

Absolutely no offence taken Pol, I appreciate straight talking and I think it's a good idea.
It's very easy to get carried away and go off like a rocket when you get an idea in your head.
it's probably easy to be looking at it through rose tinted specs 'cos of my family connection with the business too.
It's very useful to have a 3rd party opinion to throw into the mix.

I'm not expecting to make my millions from this as it's a bit of a niche market, it'll probably only ever be a self financing hobby, but it does seem criminal to leave the flying K's stuck in the back of a cupboard, they should be built and flown.

My game plan is to make the whole range available as plan sets and re-introduce the actual kits one at a time.
I'm already geared up for the plan printing (just got to get the plans scanned and cleaned up), it's the kit manufacture that will cost which is why it'll take a bit longer.
I really appreciate the support that you guys have already shown me and although I'm a newbie here, I really feel like I'm among friends.
It's a nice place and I'm sticking around.
