While I've been sitting on my backside

As noted in another thread I haven't been to well lately and have had to sit around while healing from surgery - so - what do you do when sitting on your backside with nothing to do?? - build a small (ish) IC powered RC model of course. I decided to go through my collection of plans and choose a couple that would be relatively easy to build while sitting down most of the time - hmmmm - then I had a look in the back of the hangar and saw all those half finished or just started projects - Right - first to attack?? - a little 48" W/S Wittman Tailwind (well 48" is "little" to me) that I started and then got side tracked from.

I still love that traditional build style .... it brings back memories of my first rubber powered model that mum & dad bought me when I was a kid.

Yes Pol - it's a scale model of course and if you look at the real thing the cockpit looks big enough to hold a dance in - I'm currently starting to build the wings and figuring out what to to put in the cockpit - I might try for 3 Barbie dolls and an effigy of the Gasser in his Tutu.

Back in may I fractured one of my vertebrae in a car accident, I used to be the most comfy sat in my chair at my building desk, that is when I started my deagostini spitfire.

I've got all excited and done a bit more - including completely changing my mind about which engine to fit !



After thinging about my ASP 30 4 stroke and an OS 25 2 stroke I finally settled on an unused GMS 200 25 2 stroke!

Why the big boxed area directly behind the firewall? .... have you already got a fuel tank hidden away in there?
I hope you have, because if you put it behind that in the cockpit area, it will become well below the carb' line when the model is climbing & it will lean out & probably cut the engine.
I'll bet I've missed a picture somewhere.

Pol - if you look at the second last pic you will see the firewall/engine mounting box extends all the way back to the front of the cockpit bay. A fuel tank is/will be fitted inside that box. BTW - the model is built(with a few modifications) from a plan by Peter Miller that was the free pull out plan in RCM&E (August 2010).
