Fun Fly build

A local model shop said to me if i build these fun fly models he would sell them so i thought lets see what is involved, both with time and materials.
I decided to do three all at once, based on the Magic that i fly, ill cut all the parts for all three of them first
So i started on the wings,
Marked all the 6mmx6mm spars, they are under the square, then cut the blanks for the ribs


Bound the blanks up and ran them through the saw




Im not working with a plan, im drawing the parts straight onto the wood for the patern
Then i cut out the fuselarge sides from 3/32 medium sheet and 1/16 ply doublers that go from the motor to the rear of the wing
and the 1/4 ply and 1/8 formers

I cut out all the parts for the tail feathers and fin


Then built them up


Then did the same with the ailerons


While they were setting i put together the first former in thefuselarge sides

it's fun building more than one at a time isn't it.

In a word or two Tony NO FUN fed up with it already starting other things today

yeah i found that with the hurricanes, gets gutty after a while.
you think you are doing well then you remember you have another 2 to do.

think of the money for parts though.

Got started on the wings, they are 1200mm long standard length balsa

Well i seem to have lost or deleted a whole lot of pictures for this thread including the covering of the model where i managed to burn a hole in the wing with the hot air gun as the next ones i have is with the first fun fly complete

And then five minutes after i took this picture it looked like this


It was flying great, very adgile and smooth when from about 100 ft up it dived into the ground with no responce to my up elevator crys i thought it was the radio gremlin again but on inspecting the wreckage i found a nut had come off the up elevator control horn, stupid Tony had fogotten to locktite it

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooops.

I should have put ( 5 minutes into its maiden flight )
