Right some progress ...At last made a start on the wings..

1st sort out whats what and if it`s all there.

the longrons are ½ x ¾ but could not find any spruce that size, so went into my local Jewsons and found 8ft lengths of pine that does the job.

Next was boxing up the longrons with 1/32 ply.

The 1/32 strips of ply supplied was not wide enough to box the forward longrons, so waiting for more materials to come.

The leading edge is glass-fibre rod


I was not keen on the 1/8 x ½ balsa bracing so went for the real thing of bracing wires.

wish i could build as well as that.

Showing the wire attachments, I used small solder tags with ply plates for strength against the balsa ribs, fixed with 2mm nuts & bolts

A little more progress, still boxing the spars should be finished tomorrow, meanwhile added a wing tip to the lower starboard wing and the piano wire to trailing edge and tip,





still thinking of the best way to either join the wing panels to the stub wing that has the air brake and plug that onto the fuselage or fix the stub wings to the fuselage.
The plans don’t give a lot of information on building even some annotations are missing and limited on the amount of detail.

Started putting the tailplane together, found the riblets where to short so cut more to fit but will press on










tips on and wire tensions are done, elevators next.

then onto the ailerons


the s/s horns had to be made up and silver soldered


and bloted to the rib..


added tip to the ailerons




capping strips are 1/32 ply


fixed the dummy cable pulleys

Very nice and with scale diagonal bracing!
But I must say if I was going to the trouble of fitting cable pulleys I would have be very tempted to actually use them and have scale control runs as well.

Would have made the pulleys work if I had the 100% scale details, so can only do the best with info I have, would have liked to get the Replicraft plans they have all the full size dimensions, but not at $128, you could build a full size with those plans

Well I have finished doing the tailplane, just some minor things to do on it when time to fit to the fuselage.

Ribs are 2 1/32 ply glued together with 1/32 ply trailing edge

Then bending and adding the 14swg piano wire trailing edge

Then finally making up the s/s horns, the elevator hinges are cotter pins clipped together.

Next is finishing off the top wings, not been doing much to it over the Christmas period.
So Happy New Year to all, and lets hope for some good modeling and flying for the coming year.

Why can't you just use 1/16 ply instead of gluing to 1/32 together?
