A new fuselage for my Depron Super Cub

After much flying and repairs the fuselage of the Deprob Super Cub finally "let go" after a particularly hard crash, The reasons for which are not clear but could have been CofG related after the last repair.
So a completely new fuselage and at the same time to take the opportunity to check and re install all the electrics.
Only the wings, tail remain and undercarriage.

A true monocoque construction so far all built from 2mm Depron, even the rather unusual 'tube' motor mount.

The Emax 2805 motor is screwed to a 'printed' bulkhead glued inside the tube.

The motor tube will be glued in between the first two fuselage bulkheads.

This picture shows how the tube motor mount is built into the fuselage.

In effect the motor is suspended off the back of the thick (relatively!) Depron nose block, which is by far the strongest 'bulkhead' in the entire fuselage. The nose block thus transmits the thrust and torque of the motor into the fuselage skin.
The motor tube also extends back to the first true bulkhead to give horizontal and vertical stiffness to the motor mount. In this way, apart from the 'printed disk' motor mount which itself is a hollow matrix structure and is only 2mm bigger in diameter than the motor bell, the entire fuselage is just Depron.

In hindsight I could have printed the bulkhead to incorporate the 'drum' motor mount as well and saved a few more grams.

Does the airframe get covered with anything or is the depron sanded to shape then painted? Novice question.

As with virtually all my 'scale' Depron builds there is no covering just the Depron surface with a bit of sanding, lightweight filling and a thin coat or two of acrylic paint.
Apart from following a true scale shape how it flies is more important to me than how it looks. I don't do glossy finishes!

The fuselage now sits on its 'salvaged' wheels.

But only just as the fuselage only just counters the weight of the 26g motor!
Next job is to make up some bigger (2.5") 'Alaska' wheels for it.

Not much to show today - in fact nothing as picture downloads are blocked - but the tail plane has been reinstalled.
Originally it had the elevator servo right in the tail and its rudder linked directly to the ailerons with pull/pull cables.
It all worked well enough however for the rebuild I will use a pull/pull cables for both the elevator and rudder with individual servos mounted much further forward. This should result in the battery also ending up on or very close to the CofG so any size/weight could be used, 800mAh for indoors, 3000mAh for endurance!

Hopefully a picture. Now with its big "Alaska" wheels and the elevator servo installed.

Despite their chunky size each complete wheel weighs only 2.5g.

Things moving on apace, just the windscreen to make (it will be removable and acts as the battery hatch) then just a paint job.

Is that 2 mm plus on the radius or the diameter>

Maiden yesterday but with the CofG a bit too far back and coupled with the Supercub's notorious adverse aileron yaw it was a bit of a pig to fly but still finished the session in one piece.
The battery will be moved forward - there is plenty of room.
I will also change the rx from 35 meg to 2.4 so I can programme in some rudder with the ailerons which is actually what it had before but then the rudder as mechanically linked to the ailerons.

Now pictures are enabled this is how the Supercub ended looking like.

Still some minor paint touch ups to do.
