Another Hawker?

Some years ago I built an EDF Hawker. It was my second 'jet' using a ducted prop rather than as a true EDF.
The Hawker P1121 the so called Super Hunter intended to reach mach 2.2.
A very light (no surprise Depron build) it actually flew pretty well.

It occurred to me that it was actually being built as the prototype Hunter was being tested and developed so it would complete the collection if I built another out of XPS to the same scale as my Hawker 'set'.

I originally sized the P1121 to fit the 4.5x4.5 prop inside the fuselage so I assumed to the same scale as the other Hawkers it would be slightly smaller and would use a 70 mm EDF.
I was wrong! It would actually be a little bit bigger. The P1121 was a big plane actually slightly bigger than the F105 Thunderchief!

Given that there was no suitable engine under development (it needed 20.000+ lbs thrust) it is not surprising construction was cancelled in the 1957 Defence White Paper.
By comparison the EE Lightening was more realistic, the prototype P1a had actually flown and the afterburning Avon was under development by RR but even so it only just avoided being cancelled.

Having got the P1121 off the wall (It had not flown since well before COVID) I flew it this afternoon.
No problem but a bit twitchy in the rather gusty conditions.
Honour satisfied it is now back hanging on the wall.
