With the problems I had with my Dumas kit I had a good look at your photos & thought there were some potential problems. How did these for example turn out?

i havent got very far yet. i just started. i see there is not much meat there so i may soak some super glue into the balsa before i manhandle it. i will let you know. although i did manage to brake a couple of formers on the fusilage but i think that was just me and my fat shaky fingers.

part of building is repairing all the suff you brake along the way. but the skin hides a lot.

I have a large Dancing wings Tiger that's on hold at the moment. When I started to cut film for the fuselage I noticed that there's a stringer that runs down each side from the engine bay almost to the tail empenage. I think it was to stop the fabric covering from flapping against the main fuselage. I can't find and don't have a size for them. Is there any indication of their presence on your plan?

You can see it clearly here, it runs from the step behind the engine cowl through the 'ZS'
Why anybody would want such a high gloss on a Tiger I can't imagine, money to burn I suppose.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

Fuselage stiffening? Anti-starved-horse frames?
Lovely lightning bolt captured between the starboard wings, off in the distance!
High gloss finish  perhaps an air-show special, rather than a daily work-horse?
It is clearly visible in this photo of a camo one -

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

This cut away clearly shows the fuselage stringer.

Gloss finish? It is the weight of the dope required to give such high gloss that would deter many owners.
The fabric used on the ex RAF ones I have seen is remarkably coarse!

Ah, dog walking, excellent lubricant for the grey cells, Mary and I walk ours twice a day. We lost our old Jack Russel (Chien) last Sunday, she must have been at least 20. Took her last walk with us, had to be carried the last 50 yards, refused supper, went to sleep in her bed, never to wake up, still hurting.
I note the side stringers are 1/16". If I could have the exact width of the fuselage without the side stringers I could scale up to find the size I need.

our dog is 11, its going to be a very sad day when the time comes.

the upper longeron is double under the top formers. the side will be flat down to the side stringer then taper in to a narrower bottom. once i get there i may have to modify, we will see how it goes.

It appears the Dumas kit is quite correct as the full size Tiger Moth basic fuselage structure is not a true rectangle but is wider at the top than the bottom as this picture of a full size fuselage frame shows.

From a model point of view it is much easier to build the fuselage a rectangle and then double the top stringer to create this effect. The result is the skin will be vertical down to the mid fuselage stringer and it then taper inwards to the bottom.

I do wonder how many of the RC scale fanatics actually know this!

i didn't know this and i was wondering why the top formers were wider than the sides. it all makes sense now.

i found this fuselage a bit fiddly to put together, i don't know why as it is not that complicated. not my best work but it is a pass. now onto the wings.

how many pins does it take to hold a tiger moth wing flat and square?
