Hi grumpy, allow me to explain a few things.
Firstly the post loading time.
At ModelChat we have one feature that many other forums don't. This is the ability to upload pictures to our server and insert them in your post, rather than the need to use a service like photobucket. The problem is, with a lot of pictures, your computer needs to upload them when you click "submit"

This is what causes the long load time. The website cannot load the new page until the images are uploaded.

Next, The log out
We must set a "session lifetime" on the server, this means that when you're not actively moving pages on the website it assumes you are no longer logged in and removes your session.
Many forums have this issue, including RCME.
The reason we must set a session lifetime is this....... You could view model chat on another computer (e.g. an internet cafe) and someone else could go back to that computer days later and your account would still be logged in. This would be a security risk.
The other reason is, the cookies on your computer will believe your session has timed out, but our server will believe you're still logged in.....
So when you type in www.modelchat.org.uk the page will show you NOT logged in (because of your cookies)
Then when you try to log in you will get an error "invalid token" (this is our server)

It's purely an issue of pro's and con's
Giving members their wish for longer session times has its repercussions.
