Made by CARF Models and powered by 2 JetCat P100s. CARF recommend bigger engines but that's because they are mid-mounted. Mark cleverly went with smaller P100s and put them right in the back so gets no power loss from using thrust tubes. Explains why it landed so nicely. A P180 powered version wasn't so lucky later in the day.

He does like his rivets!
I do wonder if they are so obvious on the full size but I suppose if you go to all the trouble to put them on it is hard to then make them 'almost' invisible.

He did not put them on Simon, it is a expensive ARF model so I would say the full size would be visible as well

I am not sure that just because it is an ARF makes it any more scale.
Rivets are not really visible on most of the pictures of full size Cougar's that I can find.
This " Blue Angels " one is just plain shiny but then it probably has a special "bull" paint job.
Even on this badly weathered example the panel lines are fairly clear but not the rivets.
I suspect Grumman went to quite a bit of trouble to make the flush rivets.. er...flush?

Thanks D, looking at the wind sock it looks like it was a bit blustery, not helping a great landing.

Nah. Flipping wind does ruin the sound as well. Got a better wind protector coming for the mic. See if that helps.

Nice Islander - but it's not happy in that wind.
I met a real one a long time ago -

Thanks for sharing Eric. Nice pic!

Sharing next vid. This is a Pheonix Models Tucano ARF designed for petrol power, but converted to Wren 44 turbo-prop. Bit cheaper than spending £1000s on the CARF Models composite kit.

Always fancied one of these myself, but the price of the turbo unit stops it,
Thanks Dom
