Setting end points saves servos! It's as easy as that, after setting your Subtrim, set all your end points so the control surface doesn't whack it's stop, your flight battery will last longer too!:)

I tend to use end point a lot to set the throttle tickover and also to set the thows for aileron and elevator to manufactuers recommendations

I always use end point adjustment and exponential. It's saved me a hell of a lot of damaged and/or burnt out servos.

Just remember that these 'computer' radios are not proportional, meaning not analog, they have steps from full one way to full the other. Don't quote me on this but I think it's 1,024, suppose you've set your servos and clevises really badly, and in order to get the right throws you have to move the end point to 15% on one side and 10% on the other, now you've only got 256 steps, plus you have to Sub trim to get the surface neutral because the panel trim isn't enough. Now you've only got 140 steps one way and 116 the other. Things are adding up to be a bit notchy on the control, you will have lost a great deal of precision.
