CONTROL LINE ENGINE

Anyone have for sale a FOX 40 or MERCO 35 for control line, got a itching to build a stunter for control line again
Then who knows The 2015 NATs thats an exciting thought

Try the RCME sell and buy section on the forum and E Bay/Amazon etc OR use an R/C motor with a 3rd line for throttle I don't know if you could do it with leccy though LOL

Actually, a number of the top C/L stunt fliers have been using electric power set ups for several years now. It's the eternal search for being able to fly at a constant speed through manoeuvres.

I used to fly against Pete in the late 60/70s I want to use the glow engine it's what I know and I think
when set up with a good home made tank a Merco 35 or Fox 40 is ideal

Merco 35. ST 46, Fox 35, OS 40 (the earlyish ones, not the FP series) Enya 40/45 were my favourites. Didn't like the Fox 36 nor the OS Max 35-iii (think I've remembered the correct description). Neither of them would give a reliable 4-2-4 break - once they broke out of 4 stroke no way would they return.

May be so - back then none of them were tested. On the other hand, they were being revved fairly slowly. My Enya 45 models were using 11x6 or even 12x6 props at around 8,000 rpm in four stroke mode, which is what they would hold on the ground. They were, of course, running with mufflers (hardly call them silencers!). In earlir days on open exhausts ...................................

were the testers mk coy engines any good for control line? i have a bnib 35 with throtle and ehhaust blanking plate years ago at a boot sale

I had a 36 years ago bougth s/h from a club mate. wasn't too bad, althouhg I'd bought in a model and didn't like the model so passed teh combination on to another member. They weren't all that popular, as I recall - certainly don't remember any of the top fliers using them in preference to Mercos or Fox 35 so or the like. One adbvanatge fo stunt, of course, is that you match model size and weight to your avaiable powerplant and provided that it's running characteristics are OK (see above !) ti'll work

I think finding the engine you want at a price you would be willing to pay would prove difficult What about something like an OS or Asp or Laser.Although I don't think Laser do non throttle engines. Having said that A third line to operate throttle is a viable option I believe.. However I suggest you have a look on Gildings the auctioneers model engine sales. You can also ask them to look out for them and notify you if one turns up Good hunting

A third line is out of the question John, so are Lazers they are four strokes
I think so do a control line engine if I remember correctly, although I always favoured the Mercos
