The wise old people of the RAF Acritiri in their wisdom have banned us from flying jets from our field (a dried up salt lake ) for they say environmental reasons ?
There are only 4 of us in the Limassol club that fly them and we fly over barren sand , and we fly away from the base with our backs to it, we never see any birds and no people come there
The base is maybe 3/4 of a mile from us and we always have to phone and get permission to fly any sort of plane before we fly
There are U2s, big transports and typhoons there coming and going all day in the week, the Red Arrows have just spent 6 weeks there training,burning god knows how much fuel, and they want to ban our 4 little jets
The mind boggles

its an RAF base, i wonder if this is a trend through the system? barkston heath has had a ban, anyway, TALK to them, or try too, is there a national body? be carefull what you put on line. anything amd everything can be monitored,

Than was my thought too that there been some directive from on high that there is now a perceived risk to the RAF from model planes.

I remember last year the story about a group in USA suspected of plotting to use RC model jets loaded with explosives as terrorist weapons, also there has been some sugestion that we modelers should look out for dodgy people who may have similar ideas.
It used to be 'reds under the beds' but now its 'alkieda in the model club' :
