Anyone have any experience with Lemon 2.4 gig rx's ? Supposed to be Spektrum compatible but considerably cheaper.

Yes I use Lemon rx's. Not had any problems with interference or loss of signal. I have got rid of all my Orange rx's and only use genuine Spectrum or Lemon. I believe the difference from reports on other forums and Youtube is that the Orange lose signal when voltage to the receiver drops below 3.8V. Whereas Lemon lose signal at around 3.2v. I don't know what genuine Spectrum ones do. I always run my rx's from a separate BEC powered from the main power source. I very rarely use a BEC that is built into a speed controller.

In my competition planes I run Jeti. Testing fail safes by turning the TX off has shown that Jeti reconnects within less than a second on power up. Spectrum (DX8 Gen 1) take 3 - 4 seconds to reconnect. This makes me very uncomfortable with Spectrum. It would be fine as long as you are more than 3 -4 seconds away from terra firma.

The Lemox Rxs are indeed compatible with Spektrum.
I have several (DSMX twin antenna type not DSM2) and use them without satellite Rxs with no problem. They are cheap enough to be treated as 'fit and forget' so stay permanently in the air frame for as long as it lasts.
Their 'stab' Rxs are particularly good too.

Thanks for the info, very helpful. The one I am looking at comes with a satellite, I am assuming this is for signal gain? If I use it does it draw more power? You don't use yours Quorneng, any reason why?

I digress. Well at around £20 I think it's worth a go.

The satellite does not strictly improve gain but diversity. The various aerials can be separated and orientated such that signal shielding from big lumps of metal (motors, batteries and servos) is reduced.
With my light and low power planes I have found the simple twin Rx aerials gave no problems as far as I ever wish to see them horizontally or several times the current UK height limit of 400' so I simply don't spend the money!

The signal regain time was a significant issue, particularly with the original Orange 2.4 Rxs, hence the necessity of a satellite Rx to ensure it did not happen but with the later ones 'recovery' seems to be no more than a second or two and the Rx LED 'blinks' thereafter to show it has happened.
