Take the servo apart, unsolder the motor & take out the gearing, leaving just the potentiometer & chip. Solder what you want switched where the motor was.Set the pot in the middle. Works great for LED lights. I did it on my Skytrainer, stuck it on a Y harness so the landing lights come on with the Flaps.

I shall have to investigate to see how easy it is to extract just the chip and the pot (1g?) and loose everything else.

Slightly off subject. The hobbyeagle gyro come with a small capacitor that plugs into any free port to protect from brownouts. I thought that was quite neat & worth mentioning.

Try it and see, plug it into a spare channel, fire up the tx and rx, wiggle the sticks, then switch off the rx, and keep wiggling the tx sticks!
To have a useful stored charge, you'd have a cap the size of a tennis ball, only tubular!

As Eric says the duration of even a brown out would have to very short (less than a second?) and then to only just below normal operational voltage for the capacitor to stand much chance of covering it.
Of course with the almost instant re-acquisition of the current 2.4 Rxs a low voltage brown out is not the problem it used to be although of it occurs it is still a symptom of a poorly set up system.

This is what it actually says;
It’s recommended to use the supplied 3300uF/16V capacitor to get a more stable and
secure working voltage for the gyro. The capacitor can be plugged onto any one of the
free input or output sockets of the gyro or the receiver.

In case you aren't sure what a brown-out is - it is where, due to the load on a battery, (all servos moving at once, etc) the current being drawn causes the voltage to dip momentarily, to the point where the receiver temporarily stops working. This was particularly noticeable as the pack charge reduced through usage during the day and was a good indicator of time to pack up and go home!
Models with the battery as a separate pack running the radio (i.e. an i/c model) were more prone to this, than an electric-powered one with a BEC and a much larger output-capable battery.
With most electric models, the speed controller would shut the motor down before this low voltage level was reached, so is doubly 'fail-safe'. The receiver, of course, would continue to function normally for a significant time after motor shut-down, leaving plenty of time for even a floaty glider-type model to be brought down safely under full control, just with no motor power!
Again, most speedo's these days will give you another 'squirt' if you close the throttle for a few moments, then re-open it, should the model be dropping short of the field.
