A magnetic prop balancer was created by Quorneng
I recently bought one of these magnetic prop balancer.

Very cheap but nicely made with a pointed end shaft 'suspended' between two magnets. The shaft is very slightly shorter than the gap between the magnets.
BUT
The magnets are not of equal strength so the shaft is pulled quite hard horizontally onto the stronger magnet which raises the level of friction.
By placing a bit of steel on the back of the weaker magnet you can increase its effective pull. By careful positioning the shaft can be made to just 'hold' on one magnet or the other so reducing the horizontal pull on the shaft to a minimum as demonstrated by this video.

I now has so little friction that it clearly shows the the prop cones themselves are out of balance!

I really must get out more!
